Getting Ready for Haiti

My son, Matt, and I went this morning to get some immunization shots. We are preparing for a mission trip to Haiti coming up January 19th. This is our first time on this kind of a mission trip and we are looking forward to it. I'm a little anxious about the trip mostly because I'm unfamiliar with the Haiti culture. I have heard a few stories about the dangers in this country, but also understand there is a very great need for the people there. I guess that is what stepping out on faith is all about.

Hey Scotty,
I’m praying for you and the rest of the group going to Haiti, and I know God is already blessing the trip. You are right when you say the people there have great needs – and I’m praying and trust that God will use your group to meet some of those needs.

As well as meeting the needs of the people in Haiti God will also be meeting a great need we have at Sunshine – by this I mean our need to reach out beyond what we know and learn to trust him to use, bless, and lead us to greater ministry for the good of the world.

About the danger – and I know you already know this – he can keep you safer in Haiti than you can keep yourself in Minford, Ohio. He’s the only reason we can put our head on the pillow at night and trust that everything will be ok if we nod off to sleep.

My prayer is that he gets the group safely to Haiti, uses you up while you’re there – and keeps you safe, and then brings you safely back to your families when the trip is finished.

Praying for you… be bold… and dangerous!
